Minister calls for public to participate in village activities

Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman yesterday called on the public, particularly the youth to be involved in community activities in villages and mukims, as it will strengthen national unity and harmony.

The minister, during his speech at the 40th Brunei Citizenship Certificate Presentation Ceremony at Bridex Conference Hall, said citizens “need to maintain the good reputation of the country by staying away from immoral activities that could lead to disharmony in the nation”.

“All citizens are advised to get involved in programmes and activities organised by the government through the mukim and village consultative councils,” said the minister, adding one example is helping expand a village’s ‘One Village, One Product’ project.

“As a citizen of Brunei Darussalam, it is shared responsibility to shape and develop the country to realise its peacefulness, prosperity, well-being and resilience, and achieve Brunei Vision 2035,” said the minister.  – James Kon
